On Sunday 9th October members of the Alde and Ore Wildfowling and Conservation Association (AOWCA) carried out their autumn litter pick on the river. 19 members walked along both banks – on the Aldeburgh side from Brick dock down to the bottom of Lantern marsh and lower Dan’s hole and on the Iken side, from the Ferry farm slip below Chapman’s Creek to the lower pump house.

Whilst the members picked and filled sacks, two boats collected the bags and returned them to Slaughden Quay. The finally tally amounted to 25 bags of rubbish, mainly plastic bags, bottles, rope and gloves but also of note were two car tyres, a flag, boots, some shoes and the head of a golf club!
A great morning’s exercise, doing our bit to keep the riverside tidy.
