The Alde and Ore Wildfowling and Conservation Association held their annual litter pick along the Alde on the warmest Sunday morning in September for some while.
Members walked the saltings and river wall from lower Dan’s hole up to Brick Dock on both sides of the river. Litter was bagged and collected by boat which was then offloaded at Slaughden quay. It was a pleasant surprise to note that there seemed to be less detritus than usual although plastics still made up a significant part of what was picked. A large dustbin, old buckets, bottles, bags, a cushion from a settee, one sock from a wet suit and bits of nylon rope being some of the finds.
